"The name's Bond..."

Today we had a rather extravagant day out. We spent some time down one of my owners favourite streets in London - Old Bond/ New Bond Street.

For those who haven't heard of this street, Old Bond Street runs into New Bond Street, both of which are just south of Bond Street - one of the most famous shopping areas in the world. Old Bond Street is pretty old, dating back to the 1700's. Its a beautiful street & houses many global designer brands.

The first store we went into, was Ralph Lauren. It turns out, that this is THE most dog friendly store I have ever been into. First of all, so many assistants came up to pet me & say how lovely I was (of course), but they made such a fuss. I soaked it all right up.

One very nice assistant showed us their collection of dog bags (carriers) & collars. I liked the bright pink carrier, but my owner seemed to warm to the 'tan' colour. I had a good look inside the carrier & it looked comfy & spacious...hmmm...hope we get one.

My owner decided to try on some clothes & so we went into a huge plush changing room. I climbed out of my bag & let my paws sink into the thick lush carpet. I had a good look at myself in the mirror & then played at pouncing.  After all that I got a little thirsty & so the kind store assistant bought me a little bowl of water.

We then wandered down Old Bond Street until we got to the Mui Mui store.

Here we sat on the sofa, whilst my owner looked at some bags & shoes.  I actually crept out of my bag to lay on the nice big sofa, but my owner wasn't very impressed & I was pretty quickly plonked back into my bag. humph.

We then had a little walk over to Regent Street (another famous shopping street in London), for the huge (44,000 sq ft) flagship Burberry store.  We met up with my other owner at this point & so I sat on his knee whilst he drank some tea whilst my other owner tried on various trench coats.

I wasn't offered a drink here nor did I get as much attention from the staff as I did in the Ralph Lauren store, but there was quite a lot to look at here. This store, which opened in September last year, has apparently attracted much attention in the fashion press for its 'retail theatre' experience.  A huge atrium, large sweeping staircase & massive feature screen (apparently the biggest in-store screen in the world), which I enjoyed watching. At one point there was some 'clapping' of hands on the screen & it got louder & louder & turned into the sound of rain all around the store. It was pretty clever & certainly entertained me.

Browsing the web.... luxury eco hotel by the sea

After a full day out yesterday (see my blog post) & as its not stopped raining all day, I am not moving from my big cosy bed...

I was just dreaming about the summer & the seaside... I think its because I saw some beautiful photos the other day on our ipad of a luxury eco dog friendly (& adult only) hotel in Cornwall, England.

In my dream I was laying on the hotel terrace, feeling the warm sun on my fur coat.  I was then running along the beautiful sandy beach at Mawgan Porth (dogs welcome all year round).

I know my owners are thinking of staying at The Scarlet Hotel, as they've already enquired about the dog friendly rooms - only 4 of them. The 2 categories of dog-friendly rooms are; 'Just Right' (sea view) & 'Unique' (with a private garden).  I like the look of the sea view rooms, as I love looking out of windows & watching the world go by. What a contrast the view would be to London.  I do hope we stay there in the summer & I can make friends with Jasper - their resident pooch.

A fast trot...

Today we hopped onto the overground train & headed north east into a cool bit of town - Dalston.

Still very much in the "up & coming" bracket, Dalston has some nice parts...& not so nice parts.  I think that explains why we seemed to walk pretty fast on sections of our  journey from Dalston Junction, south towards a little affluent spot called 'De Beauvoir town'.  I could barely keep up, moving my little legs as quick as I could.  So, I was more than happy when we slowed down as we neared our lunch spot - The Scolt Head pub.

A welcoming log fire greeted us as we entered, but unfortunately I didn't get to spend anytime curled up in front of it - we went straight into the dining area to meet some pals of my owners.

I had a lovely time, with lots to look at (this place got very busy by c2pm) & I enjoyed lots of fuss & attention from my owners pals.  One of them is Mexican, so being a Mexican myself, we have a strong bond. She has a very cute little baby girl too & she took a liking to me...I kept licking her tiny fingers.

A friendly lady who worked in the pub bought me a nice sized bowl of water & said she wanted to take me home with her. As I've said before, I do have that affect on people....

The food smelt pretty good & given the volume of food my owners & friends ate I'd say they thought it tasted pretty good too.

My owners loved the shabby chic look of this neighbourhood pub; the stripped wooden floorboards, vases of wild flowers on the wooden tables & eclectic mix of photos & paintings on the walls. The warm & cosy vibe makes this place a great place to escape the cold wintery weather & enjoy a good long lunch.
